THEY CELEBRATED THE WORLD PEACE DAY WITH VARIOUS ACTIVITIES 26.09.2022

Our primary school students celebrated September 21, World Peace Day, with various activities in their classrooms and in the garden. They read the stories of peace symbols, learned songs of peace. They questioned what the concept of peace meant to them. They emphasized the importance of World Peace in all their activities. Our 4th grade students played a game in the garden in accordance with this year's Peace Day theme, "End to Racism". The game was a running race. They took their place in the game with the instructions given by their teachers before starting the race. In the instructions were given as to make them feel discrimination in society. For example, those with green eyes should move 3 steps forward, those with dark skin should move 2 steps back, those who has foreign families should move 1 step forward.... So when they competed, they said it wasn't fair. They shared their experiences and feelings. They discussed how people who are discriminated against in society might feel. Then they tried the race once again, but this time everyone would start along the same lines. After this experience, they wrote and drew their thoughts in their classrooms in a booklet.
