RAISING AWARENESS ON WATER SAVING THROUGH WATER FESTIVAL 25.05.2016

This year, as Işıkkent Primary School, we attended the Water Explorers programme, which is held in Turkey with the support of Mikado Sustainable Development Consultancy HSBC Water Programme. With the aim of raising awareness on water saving among children between the ages of 8 and 14, the programme taught students about clean water access, water problems that the countries encounter, water usage from production to consumption and more. Eco School students had shared the relevant information with their friends through box games they prepared on March 22nd World Water Day. They also organised a Water Festival at our school on May 25th and drew attention to the water problems through racetracks they prepared. In the festival, the students played games, which were designed to draw attention to water saving, and they competed in sentence completing games. They also designed games, which let students find the secret amount of water in clothes, vegetables, fruits and technological devices, and made a commitment jar to open 5 years later. The students had fun with the games they played and drew attention to water saving.
