NEW YEAR THEMES ON OUR CLASSROOM DOORS 29.12.2022

Our PS students changed their traditional classroom door decors to raise awareness about the new year celebrations in other countries. First, they thought that “everyone welcomes the new year at 12am” but then asked “does everyone welcomes the new year at the same time?”. Afterwards, they carried out a research about the countries which celebrate the new year first and last, realized the time differences between countries and learned the factors that cause them. Then, each classroom picked up a different country according to the order of new year’s celebrations - 1A New Zealand, 1B Australia, 1C South Korea, 1D India, 1st grade English class Turkey, 2nd grade English class Finland, 2B Poland, 2A Norway, 3A Ireland, 3B Iceland, 3rd grade English class Brazil, 4th grade English class Peru, 4C Panama, 4B Mexico and finally 4A Canada. They learned about the countries and looked at the new year celebrations and reflected them on their classroom doors. Finally, All PS and ELC students visited the classrooms during the week and got informed about how other countries celebrate the new year.
