FOR A HAPPY LIFE: FREEDOM OR SECURITY? 06.06.2016

Grade 11 students participated in a philosophy debate on June 1st. The opposing teams defended these two statements: “We need freedom to live a happy life.” and “We need security to live a happy life.” The jury evaluated both teams’ arguments meticulously. Each team member individually argued to support their team and carried out an improvised debate as the other team’s members challenged their ideas. During the debate students focused on reasoning, scientific and philosophical thinking and handling differences through expression-not violence. They took another step to become a 21st century individual through proper display of the debate culture.
