ELC IN RED AND WHITE 28.10.2020

Due to the pandemic, we could not organize our Republic Day ceremony, where we used to make ourselves heard in a powerful way, but we carried out activities, which were planned according to social distancing rules. We talked about our republic, flag and Ataturk during all week. We decorated our school with the objects we created in our lessons. We had conversations about the relationship between Ataturk’s characteristics and the PYP learner profile attributes. We created observational drawings by looking at Ataturk’s photos and used those drawings to make an “Ataturk corner” in our classrooms. We talked about Ataturk’s photos as well as what he presented to us and what freedom is. We answered the question “what whould you like to say to/do with Ataturk if he was here?” and drew pictures based on our answers. We looked at the world map and explored where our country is. We talked about how Ataturk saved our country. Today, our school was in red & white, just like our flag. We danced to the songs about Ataturk and the Republic and celebrated the Republic Day with Turkish flags and anthems.
