The AMC were held online at our computer lab with the participation of Grade 9 students Can Acar, Dora Senol, Ceyda Celebi, Berk Ozsevil; Grade 10 students Doga Ozbay, Idil Ira, Hakan Tatari, Erkin Uyguroglu, Beyza Akgunduz; Grade 11 students Derin Kurultak, Huseyin Erhan Goktanır, Huseyin Okur, Melodi Inceboz, Altar Gur; and Grade 12 students Melike Taner, Ece Lara Tas, Jerfi Cider, Poyraz Yapalı and Eren Tuncer. We congratulate our students who represented our school successfully. The American Mathematics Competitions are considered the first stage of the series of examinations, which are held every February to determine the US Maths Team to compete in the International Mathematics Olympiad (IMO). There are two categories for HS students: AMC 10 for students in Grade 10 and below & AMC 12 for students in Grade 12 and below. The AMC 10 and AMC 12 are both 25-question, 75-minute, multiple choice examinations. Each student gets 6 points for each correct answer and 1,5 points for each question left unanswered. Wrong answers, on the other hand, are not taken into account. The students who take AMC 12 and score in the top 5th percentile (or score at least 100 points) on the national rating scale get the chance to participate in the American Invitational Mathematics Examination (AIME). The students who take AMC 10 and score in the top 1st percentile (or score at least 120 points) on the national rating scale get the chance to participate in the AIME.
