TRIP TO BERGAMA 21.10.2022

As part of the interdisciplinary trip organized for the classes of History, Geography and Literature, Grade 9 students visited Bergama and learned about the historical, geographical, and cultural places that witnessed a wealthy and powerful civilization rooted in Ancient Greece. First, they visited the Acropolis, the capital of the Kingdom of Pergamon. Then, they visited the Temple of Athena, which was built in the name of the guardian of the city and the goddess of wisdom and war; the biggest library of the Hellenistic Period; the remains of the Altar of Zeus, which is one of the most beautiful examples of the architecture in the Hellenistic Period; and the Ancient Theatre. Also, they visited the Asclepion, which was one of the most important health centers in the Archaic Period, the medical school graduated the most famous doctors of the era and the first psychiatric hospital in the world. Our students followed the traces of the Acropolis and the Asclepion and learned the significance of the city in history.
