“ŞAİR EVLENMESİ” ON STAGE 12.12.2016

Grade 11 students learned about the Turkish theatre in Tanzimat Era and compared their findings with the traditional Turkish theatre. Students performed what they learnt through İbrahim Şinasi’s play “Şair Evlenmesi”, which is the first Western-inspired play in Turkish literature. The piece talks about the disadvantages of pre-arranged marriage. Students started working on this play 1,5 months ago. Without getting help from the outside for the costumes, music and stage props, Grade 11 students staged their play in the assembly hour. We congratulate them for their success in transforming what they have learnt into something wonderful.
