LISTENING TO WORLD TRADITIONS FROM PARENTS 01.06.2023

As part of their sixth unit "How We Express Ourselves”, our 1st graders discussed celebrations and traditions. Apart from the celebrations and traditions specific to our country, they were curious about the celebrations and traditions in other countries. We invited 1st-grade parents from different countries with diverse cultures to our school to share their own celebrations and traditions. Our students listened to Darya Güngören talk about "Easter," Olga and Bilge Sönmezer share about Russian dumplings called "Pelmeni," Leviza Osmanova describe her family traditions and celebrations in Ukraine, Elina Oktayer talk about the celebration of "Women's Day" in Russia, Nick Manthei and Abbie Demirci explain "Thanksgiving Day," and Martin Budd explain the "Cheese Rolling Festival." Thanks to this activity, our students realized that there are different celebrations around the world, and traditions are shaped based on culture.
