LIBRARY WEEK CELEBRATED ENTHUSIASTICALLY AT OUR SCHOOL 28.03.2024

Library Week was celebrated with various activities in our ELC and primary school. During their morning routines, our first graders shared the books they brought with their friends the whole week and participated in the "I Eat Your Alphabet" activity in their library class. Our 2nd-grade students worked on two fairy tales that were related to the topics covered by the ELC 3 students. In two different groups, our students read the story "The Cicada and the Ant" in Turkish and "Goldilocks and Three Bears" in English. Then, they rewrote and illustrated the endings of the stories and read the new versions to the ELC 3 students. Our third graders talked about the meaning and importance of Library Week and redesigned the cover of their favorite books. Then, they grouped the books in their library class and acted like the heroes of the fairy tales and stories they read in class. Our 4th-grade students exhibited their research about libraries around the world and had an interview with the author of the book they read. Also, they made connections between books and other fields by working on different fields during the “Sunset at the Library” activity. In English lessons, they took the opportunity to research information using different sources and work on academic honesty. With these activities organized during Library Week, our students discovered the importance of books and reading while having a fun week.
