INTERDISCIPLINARY SCIENCE PRESENTATIONS BY DP YEAR 2 STUDENTS 16.12.2025

Our Grade 12 IB DP Year 2 students delivered two interdisciplinary presentations in English to Grade 11 IB DP Year 1 students, demonstrating how the knowledge and skills gained in Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and ESS can be integrated while working on a project. In the first presentation, which outlined the working principles of solar energy, students focused on energy storage, environmental impacts, and a comparison of different types of solar panels within the scope of Physics, Chemistry, and Biology. The second presentation, which compared lithium-ion and sodium-ion batteries, addressed renewable energy storage, pollution resulting from energy outputs, the toxicity of lithium and sodium batteries in relation to human health, and the impact of battery components on the food chain. This presentation provided IB DP Year 1 students with valuable insight into the scientific studies they will undertake in the coming year. Following the presentations, students further developed their understanding of the topics through a Q&A session that allowed them to explore specific areas of focus. Feedback provided by our IB Coordinator supported the presenting students’ development while also offering guidance to Year 1 students.
