A DISCUSSION WITH ALTAN OYMEN 17.05.2021

As part of the activities for May 19, Altan Oymen met with our students and asked, “Would the history repeat itself if correct lessons were drawn from it?” and shared his knowledge and experiences about the transition from the Ottoman Empire to the Republic, the perception of democracy, the global circumstances during the implementation of the democracy and the limits of the freedom of thought. Mr Oymen said, “You should be hopeful all the time and consider the thoughts of others while shaping yours if you aim to reach the level of contemporary civilization”, and encouraged students to celebrate May 19 Commemoration of Ataturk, Youth and Sports Day by stating, “We will have great days kids – there is no need for pessimism”.
