This year, our Grade 8 students embarked on an inspiring literary journey through Richard Bach’s Jonathan Livingston Seagull, exploring themes of freedom, courage, and self-discovery in their Turkish lessons. Jonathan’s determination to rise beyond the limits set by his flock encouraged our students to question their own potential, pursue their dreams, and discover their individual strengths. Throughout the year, our students developed their skills in critical thinking, interpretation, and creative expression through this remarkable novel. Along the way, they discovered what it means to find their own voice, spread their own wings, and overcome the challenges they encounter. Through the work they produced, they reflected not only on a literary masterpiece but also on their experiences, personal growth, and hopes for the future during their middle school years. Just as Jonathan searched the skies in pursuit of freedom and excellence, we wish our students every success as they take their next step into high school with courage, confidence, and the determination to forge their own paths.
