EPHESUS ANCIENT CITY FIELD STUDY 27.11.2025

Our 9th grade students participated in a field study at the Ancient City of Ephesus, organized in collaboration with the Social Sciences, Turkish Language & Literature, and Mathematics departments. The aim of this interdisciplinary experience was to explore the cultural interactions of early civilizations through historical, geographical, literary, and mathematical perspectives, while enhancing observation, research skills, and historical awareness. The trip began with a visit to the iconic structures of Ephesus—dating back to 6000 BC—including the Amphitheatre, Agora, Parliament, and the remarkable Celsus Library, which is believed to have once housed 14,000 scrolls. Students then explored the Ephesus Experience Museum, where digital art technologies brought to life the myths, heroes, achievements, and struggles of ancient Ephesus through immersive storytelling. Our final stop was the House of Virgin Mary, located on Mount Koressos (Bülbül Dağı), a site believed to be where Mary, mother of Jesus, spent her final years with St. John and regarded as sacred by Christians around the world. This meaningful trip provided our students with rich academic learning opportunities and unforgettable cultural experiences.
