IŞIKKENT MUN CLUB IN THESSALONIKI 17.02.2026

Our Işıkkent MUN Club participated in the MUN Conference organized by Selanik Anatolian College, founded in 1886, with the participation of 15 students. Taking part in debates across 11 different committees, our students demonstrated high-level diplomacy, negotiation, and problem-solving skills, developing well-structured draft resolutions. Key topics addressed in the committees included critical global issues such as international security and disarmament; the use of artificial intelligence in warfare and global governance; economic regulations and global market structures; climate change and the protection of cultural heritage; post-conflict justice and human rights; decolonization and agricultural sovereignty; ecocide and statelessness; demographic transformation and governance reform; as well as criminal justice and citizenship rights. Throughout the conference, our students gained not only academic insights but also valuable cultural experiences. They visited the birthplace of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, renewing their historical awareness. One of the most meaningful surprises of the trip was the visit of Aylin Karaman, Deputy Consul in Thessaloniki and Turkey’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, who met with our students during the conference. We congratulate our students on this high-quality diplomacy experience, through which they represented our school with great success.
