GUEST SPEAKER SESSION – NATURE AND ENVIRONMENT UNIT 26.02.2026

As part of the “Nature and Environment” theme within the “How the World Works” unit, Grade 2 students welcomed three guest speakers from different professions, enriching their learning with real-world perspectives. From meteorologist Özer Soybakış, they learnt how weather forecasts are created, the tools used in the process, and why these forecasts are important in our daily lives. Thanks to the manufacturer Muammer Mustafa Özduran, they explored the olive production process and discovered how seasons and weather conditions affect production, while also learning about the journey of olives. With Gülseren Çaylı, they examined how textiles can be in harmony with nature and gained insights into seasonally appropriate clothing, fabric choices, clothing recycling, and sustainable practices such as producing fabric from plastic. In addition, manufacturer Ceyda Güzel led a hands-on workshop on sustainable agriculture, where students learned how to plant a seed. The sessions provided students with meaningful answers to many of the questions they had been exploring throughout the unit, deepening their understanding of nature, sustainability, and responsible living.
